Hello everyone!
The hummingbird and forth hand carved bird by my husband is done, and gone to its new home. My husband made it to give it as a present to a dear friend. This hummingbird is found in the western United States, and certainly the most common in Colorado.

These birds come readily to artificial nectar feeders. They are aggressively territorial, and at feeders or flowering shrubs they spend much time chasing other hummingbirds, rather than feeding.
Here's how this pretty bird used to look at the beginning, just a piece of rough wood with some shape.
Taking shape . . .
and some more shape.
This the way the bird is set on a screw when my husband is painting it and to let it get dry.
Looking cute!
I love this photo!
I always have lots of fun taking photos of this precious birds that my husband hand carved.
This is the way he's set. We found a weathered piece of wood at
Harrison Bay, and the rock like base was carved and painted by my husband.
Right now my husband is finishing another hummingbird. In the future he's thinking to carve miniature horses. I can't wait to see all those mini horses.
