Missing Him and Welcoming our New Addition

We lost our precious Chico of kidney failure on 9-11-11, and we are missing him greatly.  He was so sweet and very special.  Chico was a runt, and when he was born the lady that used to own him thought that he was not going to make it.  She took him to the doctor,  he told her that he was fine, and he sure was.

He brought us lots of happy days.  Chico was my son's cat.  He developed this special bond.  Chico spent most of his time in my son's room, while Duchess is always in my daughter's room.  I always said that Chico was so talkative, because he would make sounds to let us know what he wanted.  He also loved greens,  especially the strawberries' green part.  He loved to drink running water from the faucet.  Every time we gave him catnip he went berserk.  Chico had a little problem, he loved to drown his toys.  We don't know why, but he did.  Chico had a few nicknames - Chico Boy, Los Pics and Chic.

We will love and remember him for ever.  Here are some precious memories caught in photos.

Gwendolyn and Wesley playing with Chico,
this was the first days of Chico at home,
Cape Cod, MA.

Chico also loved fighting with teddy bears and
cuddled up with them too.

We call this photo "The Hug of Betrayal",
because after that hug came the fight.

Christmas time.

So cute and huggable!

Chico among Gwendolyn's soft toys.
I think it's so cute that he went and
cuddled up there.

While Gwendolyn and Wesley did their
 homeschool work, Chico and Duchess
 were always with them.
Here is Chico doing his science work. Ha! Ha!

Chico and Duchess

We miss you, Chico boy!
June 14, 2003 - September 9, 2011

And now let us introduce to you our new family member, his name is Sir Rupert.  He came to bring joy when our world was covered in sadness after the lost of our precious Chico.  Sir Rupert was born August 1, 2011.  When he arrived in our home September 11, 2011, he was so small compared to Duchess.  He's also very special, so far he has learned to do and to love everything that Chico did except drowning toys.  Thank goodness! Sir Rupert loves water.  On the other hand, for Duchess it has been very hard since the loss of Chico.  Her and Chico were always playing and since his loss, she's not the same.  She's not as happy as before.  Duchess is not accepting Sir Rupert yet.  We hope that she may accept him, so she can be happy again.  Duchess is a darling though, and we love her dearly.  Here are photos of our adorable Sir Rupert and Duchess.

  1. Dearest Wendy,

Congrats with the new furbaby; he is so cute, just like a toy!
Guess you mixed up the birth date of Sir Rupert and his time of arrival... Did you have him already before Chico died?
It is so sad to lose a true family member. They attach themselves to you and the other way around. Yes, felines do mourn and our Barty did mourn the loss of his big brother (by adoption) for about 3 months. It takes time, like with humans.
Enjoy the new bundle of love and give them time.

    Love to you,

    Mariette

  5. It is so hard to lose a pet, isn't it? It seems every time you turn around you miss them...where they used to lay...or sit...or wrap themselves around your legs. I love your new baby! Is that one of the cutest kitties you have ever seen??? xo Diana
