To my way of thinking,
there is not a more perfect day
for tea with a friend
than when it is cold
and rainy on the outside
and there is a hot, blazing
fire on the inside.

Blest be that spot, where
cheerful guests retire
To pause from toil, and trim
their evening fire.
~ Oliver Goldsmith

Our curious Sir Rupert love to watch the candles burn.

Surely everyone is aware of the divine
pleasures which attend a wintry fireside; candles
at four o'clock, warm hearthrugs, tea, a fair
tea~maker, shutter closed, curtains flowing in
ample draperies to the floor, whilst the wind
and rain are raging audibly without.
~ Thomas De Quincey

  4. Dearest Wendy,
Lovely setting for a fireside tea. Special but delicate teapot indeed. How curious cats always are. We have to watch the use of real candles with felines around...

  18. Dearest Wendy,
So sorry to read about your broken ribs. You are in the same position as my dear friend Ellie in The Netherlands. She tripped over a chair and fell and broke one rib and bruised all others... Lots of pain and the healing takes quite some time. Wishing you well and stay warm and cozy.
    Hugs,
    Mariette
